“Jenkinson writes about the haunting continuity of place and the tensile nature of relationships in poems that are as precise as they are accomplished. They persist in the imaginative memory long after they've been read.” – Ian Parks
The Lighthouse
The lighthouse spins its ray
through cooling evening air
out across the bay.
At closing of the day
she walked with me out here -
The lighthouse spins its ray.
I watched the precious way
she smiled. She shook her hair
out across the bay.
All I can do is say
My time I'll gladly share.
The lighthouse spins its ray.
Knowing she'd never stay
was more than I could bear.
Out across the bay
she said It's all ok.
I stand alone and stare.
The lighthouse spins its ray
out across the bay.
